Climatic Wind Tunnel configuration, analysis and control technology

We introduce the main configuration and flow analysis / control technology of the climatic wind tunnel
that evaluates the extreme-climate performance of complete vehicles.

Climatic Wind Tunnel Configuration

3D cross-section of the main configuration of the climatic wind tunnel (metal air duct, main fan, exhaust, heat exchanger, test section, solar-radiation device, etc.)
3D cross-section of the temperature-simulation facility of the climatic wind tunnel (primary/secondary refrigeration system, steam injection, dehumidification, electric heater, etc.)

주요 시험 능력

A/C System Performance

Evaluates the performance of the air-conditioning system during vehicle driving and idle under summer environmental conditions (high temperature and high solar radiation) — that is, the cooling efficiency of the cabin air and the maximum cooling performance

Heater System Performance

Evaluates the performance of the Heater system during vehicle driving and idle under low-temperature environmental conditions — that is, the heating efficiency of the cabin air and the maximum heating performance

Window Defrost & Demist Performance

Evaluates the frost-removal performance on the vehicle Window at low temperature to determine whether it meets the driver's visibility-assurance criteria

Engine Cooling Performance

Evaluates the performance of the engine cooling system (coolant temperature, engine oil, transmission oil, etc.) under high-speed driving, uphill driving, and idle vehicle-speed conditions

FATC Test

Evaluates, under various ambient-temperature, solar-radiation, and vehicle-speed conditions, whether the cabin air is controlled within the required range for each FATC (Full Automatic Temperature Controller) set temperature

Go-Stop Test

Conducts evaluation of the vehicle's cooling/heating/engine-cooling performance and fuel economy under repeated driving & idle conditions simulating an urban driving mode

Other Tests

  • Evaluation of occupant thermal performance (Thermal Comfort) : using Thermal Manikins
  • Vehicle fuel economy (Fuel Economy) evaluation : using a fuel-economy measurement device
  • Evaluation of the effect of the vehicle air-conditioning system, engine cooling, and heating system on fuel economy
  • Measurement of vehicle air-conditioning power consumption / electric power consumption
  • Development and verification of vehicle and intake-system performance using rainfall and snowfall equipment
  • Performing low-temperature performance cold-start tests
